Fab Lab ABQ received their first visiting International Designer last week!

Hiroyuki Shimizu travelled all the way from Tokyo, Japan to collaborate with us on a furniture line he had only experimented with using wood thus far.

By utilizing our prototyping services, we implemented laser cutting, shopbot, plasma cutter and critiques to get it right...

Our design history goes way back to the early days of DUMBO, Brooklyn where Daniel (of FLQ) and Hiro were partners in a Design/Build firm called ShimWolf.

His experience here in flushing out the products from concept to physical models went smoothly with the help of of Luke Stribling whose expertise in metal work allowed us to accomplish our goals technically and aesthetically.

After the three shelving sets get back from powder coating, we will post them on the website for all to see, meanwhile it's still production time!

We are expecting and encourage more of these project oriented collaboration visits from other artists in NYC and Europe throughout 2010.
